If the archive has unlimited bandwidth, then there's no problems. Or if there is a dedicated effort to store anything anyone sends in, then there's no problems. But obviously there are problems.

It wouldn't take much more than a minimum wage employee to take any file titled in either unreadable garbage ie. fjfjeiej (just junk) or anything in middle eastern script (would that be non-ascii characters) to be put in a pending folder. That would probably be more than a third of the stuff in moving images IMHO..It is labor intensive to watch and judge the worthiness of everything, but you need a basic filter. Make sure it's actually a movie instead of a hidden file, make sure it has a legible or translated title. LIke power saver bulbs LOL your bills will get a lot lower by that simple trick!

A fair amount of what is uploaded into Opensource Movies *is* refiled by curators. Some examples: pirated material is removed; apparent jihad material is placed in a separate section; feature-length films, CC-licensed VJ loops, sports footage go to various subcollections; and recently, other religious/spiritual material goes to a new subcollection.

Do y'all see other major types of content going into OSM that could be handled additionally?

What do you call someone just messing with their movie camera, posting "arguing with my girlfriend", "my dog is sooo cute", "hanging around Starbucks doing absolutely nothing"
type videos? Back in the day, they used to be called "home movies"
Maybe make a category called "Meaningless Videos" LOL!!
I know there would be a lot of grey area and some hurt feelings, but people need to respect this website and its users. Archive.org is a million times cooler than Youtube!!

What do I call it? I call it crap.....IMHO such stuff has no business being posted here....that's what YouTube is for. Personal videos like that should be there and not HERE.
